Design: Samples of Merluccius polli were collected from the waters of Mauritania and stored in absolute ethanol at 4C. 1g of genomic DNA was extracted from fin tissue of a sole individual of Merluccius polli using a standard phenol:chloroform based protocol. The resulting DNA extraction was then purified by Mag- Bind Total Pure NGS magnetic beads.

This project aims at improving the genome assembly of the species Merluccius polli. This species has its habitat in the Gulf of Guinea and it is important to identify resource changes attributable to global change (climate and pollution) and vulnerable areas, from the occurrence of hybrid zones, reduced population size, altered community functional traits and/or hake reproduction traits.
